The devil's in the detail with Backline, so at Heroes we put in the hours

Backstage at Birmingham Mela - Europe's biggest Mela, for which we supplied all Backline for the mainstage - I was chatting with Jon Overton, our man responsible for making sure everything is perfect for all of our hires. "After I replaced the valves in the Ampeg SVT CL300, it's got to be run for a few hours, so I took it home for the evening as my kitchen hi-fi, just to be sure."

The Ampeg rig was just one of three bass amps on stage, accompanying a full compliment of amps, keyboards and percussion needed to allow longstanding Indian star Mika Singh to fly in with his band and headline the festival. We even sent drum sticks & a drum key.

We chose a custom Yamaha 9000 recording drum kit to take center stage for him. It's pre-cut ports & padding, give it an amazing sound when mic'd. In charge of stage, sound & lighting for the big weekend, John Milne enthused "I just can't believe how great that kit sounds, we've had so many drum kits that fail to deliver once the mics are on"

Often lost to the background, but an absolute essential for a great gig and happy artists, in a pub or in front of 15,000 people - great Backline sets the quality of your event, make sure you hire it from the heroes.
